Part Time Church Music Director
New Life Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time music director who will, in conjunction with the pastor, create a diverse music program for worship services. This includes integrating traditional, contemporary, praise, gospel, and other styles of Christian music into a weekly Sunday worship service and a monthly Wednesday evening service. The director will be responsible for proposing worship music, performing music, bringing in outside musicians and leading choral groups.
Requirements:
-Ability to play piano and/or organ; ability to play other instruments a plus but not necessary
-Knowledge of a wide breadth of Christian music genres
-Ability to work in a team atmosphere
-Ability to resource outside musicians to supplement the music program
-Ability to innovate and think creatively about worship
-Ability to direct choral groups
-Degree in music preferred but not required

Director, Hochstein Youth Wind Symphony
The Hochstein Youth Wind Symphony is a high school wind band for grades 9-12, meeting Saturday 12noon -2pm for five or six weeks in January and February, ending the week before February break. There will be a maximum of 10-12 hours of rehearsal culminating in a concert on the evening of the last Saturday of rehearsal. This position may be appropriate for a single Director or may be divided between Director and Assistant Director. Hochstein provides support for this program from the Ensembles Coordinator and other staff.
Duties include:
- all parts of the application/recruitment process, including efforts to fill out sections as needed and determining seating
- selecting repertoire and obtaining music
- planning and conducting rehearsals
- working with Hochstein staff to publicize and present the final concert.
Qualifications sought:
- experience conducting high school students
- knowledge of appropriate repertoire
- access to music libraries/sources for repertoire
- excellent planning and organizational skills
- effective communication skills and rapport with students, parents, and area band directors and other music educators
- commitment to Hochstein School mission and policies
