Part Time Church Music Director

            New Life Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time music director who will, in conjunction with the pastor, create a diverse music program for worship services. This includes integrating traditional, contemporary, praise, gospel, and other styles of Christian music into a weekly Sunday worship service and a monthly Wednesday evening service. The director will be responsible for proposing worship music, performing music, bringing in outside musicians and leading choral groups.

Requirements:
-Ability to play piano and/or organ; ability to play other instruments a plus but not necessary
-Knowledge of a wide breadth of Christian music genres
-Ability to work in a team atmosphere
-Ability to resource outside musicians to supplement the music program
-Ability to innovate and think creatively about worship
-Ability to direct choral groups
-Degree in music preferred but not required

Director, Hochstein Youth Wind Symphony

The Hochstein Youth Wind Symphony is a high school wind band for grades 9-12, meeting Saturday 12noon -2pm for five or six weeks in January and February, ending the week before February break. There will be a maximum of 10-12 hours of rehearsal culminating in a concert on the evening of the last Saturday of rehearsal. This position may be appropriate for a single Director or may be divided between Director and Assistant Director. Hochstein provides support for this program from the Ensembles Coordinator and other staff.

Duties include:

all parts of the application/recruitment process, including efforts to fill out sections as needed and determining seating
selecting repertoire and obtaining music
planning and conducting rehearsals
working with Hochstein staff to publicize and present the final concert.

Qualifications sought:

experience conducting high school students
knowledge of appropriate repertoire
access to music libraries/sources for repertoire
excellent planning and organizational skills
effective communication skills and rapport with students, parents, and area band directors and other music educators
commitment to Hochstein School mission and policies
